FAQ

I understand that it can feel an overwhelming process when getting started with your project and you may feel you have some questions you would like to know the answers to first before getting in touch. Hopefully the questions below might help to answer some of your queries. If not, don’t worry, I am always on hand to help if your query is not answered below. Please feel free to contact me.

Do you offer a supply-only service?
Yes! I would just simply require the measurements and order information so I can provide you with a quotation. If it is a supply-only order you require, if you can get in touch via email, I will email over an information request form for you to fill out and return to me. This will then enable me to provide you with an accurate quote for your supply-only order. If you require delivery, please include your location details so this can be included within your quote. Ivy Place Interiors also offers a make-up service for other trade professionals and Interior Designers.
Can I provide my own measurements?
If you wish to provide your own measurements, this is not a problem. However, please kindly note that Ivy Place Interiors will not be held responsible if the curtains or blinds do not fit correctly due to incorrect measurements being supplied to us. The all inclusive service I offer includes the measurements being taken during the home visit.
How do I measure for a Roman blind?
If you wish to have your Roman blind made to fit inside the recess, you will need to measure the width from wall to wall inside the window recess. For accuracy, I advise you measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the window. If your measurements don’t work out the same, you will need to choose the smallest width measurement. Once you have the width measurement, you need to take off 1cm from this measurement. This will insure the blind will fit within the recess area you’ve measured for.

The drop is measured from the top of the recess, down to the windowsill, or to wherever you wish the blind to close down too. Some prefer the blind just off the windowsill, if this is the case, please make sure you make allowances for this in your finalised measurements.

If you wish to have your Roman blind made to fit outside your window recess, you will need to measure the exact width and drop you wish to have the blind made to. Remember to take into account the stacking height of the blind (approximately between 15-30cm) and any window handles or window openings that may cause an obstruction. You will need to determine how high above the window you want to install your blind and how much overhang at either side you want to have.

We normally advise measuring the overall width of the windowsill or adding on an extra 5-10cm to the recess measurement for each side side of the blind. For the drop, we advise measuring from 15 – 30cm above the top of the window recess, down to the windowsill or just past if you wish to cover the sill.

If you are still a little unsure, please don’t hesitate to get in touch so I can help you further.

How do I measure for a pair of curtains?
You will need to measure the full length of your pole or track which will provide the overall width the curtains need to be made for. I will discuss the overlap and fullness of the curtains with you at the time of the measurements being supplied to me. For the drop, you need to measure from the eye of the ring/track glider down to where you want the curtains to finish. For eyelet heading, you will need to measure the drop from the top of the pole down to where you want the curtains to finish.

If you don’t have a pole or track currently in place, please email me for more information on how to measure for this.

What is your lead time?
My lead time is approximately 6 – 8 weeks. However, delays out of my control can happen if certain stock isn’t available with my suppliers. If this is the case with your order, you will be notified as soon as possible. I will always try to advise my clients of the current lead time along with an approximate installation deadline for the order at the time of ordering.
Can I provide my own fabric?
If you wish to supply your own fabric purchased through a third party, happen to have any left over fabric from a previous project or have an existing pair of curtains you wish to re use to be made into something else, this is something I can accommodate for. Please note for any order where you wish to supply your own fabric, there will be a small surcharge added to the labour costs. More information on this can be found in my terms and conditions available on my website. Ivy Place Interiors has a wide range of fabrics available to choose from through our trust worthy suppliers.
Can I provide my own lining?
I only make up using our own range of linings. A lot of time has been spent selecting the very best linings for a high quality finish.
Can you provide me with a quote before committing to a home visit?
Yes, I would just kindly ask you to provide me with some measurements, along with your requirements for me to give you an approximate quote. Where I can, I always try to work with my clients when it comes to budget, so if there’s any queries you have with this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Can you post an order to me?
Yes, I can post an order anywhere within the UK via a tracked courier service.
Do you offer an alteration service?
Yes, I do accommodate for alterations. Existing curtains would need to be cleaned prior to being altered. An alteration order would be provided on a supply only basis and you would need to provide me with the correct measurements you wish to have the alterations made to. If you require the order to be re installed, a fitting fee will be included within the quotation.
Do you offer a design service?
At this current time, I don’t offer a design service. I will always offer my best advise for your windows during the home visit and my honest opinion on fabrics/hardware can always be asked for. I do look to hopefully offer a full design service in the near future! If you are in need of some inspiration, or like to know the current trends, please do sign up to receive my monthly newsletter via email! Or even if your wanting to gather some ideas for a future project, it’s a great way to see some fabulous transformations which you might like to re create in your own home!
Can I provide my own pole or track?
If you wish to provide your own pole or track, this will need to be installed by yourself prior to our agreed home visit. Ivy Place Interiors will not provide a warranty on this if you choose to provide and install your own hardware, our warranty is only available on products supplied and installed by Ivy Place Interiors. More information on this can be found in my terms and conditions available on my website. Ivy Place Interiors has a wide range of hardware available to choose from through our trust worthy suppliers.

Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying this go Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying this gorgeous weather! I think it’s time I showed my face again with a little update on my not so ideal situation…

It’s been a challenging three months since my skiing accident, however today marks a week since my first operation. Sometimes I feel time is flying then other times I feel it’s going so slow! But thankfully my first operation is out of the way with and I now start my rehabilitation again in preparation for surgery on my left knee. All being well this should be around August time!

I’m keeping positive and putting my all into my physio to ensure I come back stronger than ever. I’m missing my work so much and can’t wait to get back to doing what I love. I’ve still got a long road ahead of me but I’m aiming to be back sometime in November all being well with my rehabilitation🙏🏼

A big thank you to my family and friends for their support, it’s been challenging to say the least but you’ve all made it so much more bearable. Thank you for all the support from my clients and well wishes, I can’t wait to see you all again soon and look forward to meeting new clients my new location of Ripon📍
Hi everyone, this wasn’t the post I was expecting Hi everyone, this wasn’t the post I was expecting to write at the end of the first month of the year however here I go… Last week I was away with my family skiing, having the best time as always! Unfortunately halfway through the holiday I had a bad fall leaving me unable to walk properly. The doctors in Austria were absolutely amazing and I was seen so quickly at the local hospital. X-rays thankfully confirmed no broken bones but a lot of internal swelling and fluid. After physical examination the doctor was confident of an ACL injury in my right knee but couldn’t confirm for sure if I’d done any ligament damage in the left knee. Now I am back home, I have had an MRI scan on both knees which has unfortunately confirmed I have complete ACL disruption in both knees. I’m lucky to have not damaged any other ligaments as the MRI also highlighted a lot of internal bruising and trabecular fractures from the impact of my fall. At this stage, I’m waiting for an appointment with an orthopaedic surgery consultant to determine the treatment I need to get me back on my feet again!

It’s been hard to get my head around as I was so so ready to get my business up and running in my new location, however these things happen and I’m determined to come back stronger than ever! Unfortunately I’m out of action for the moment and won’t know how long my recovery will be at this current stage. But rest assured as soon as I’m steadier and stronger on my feet I will get back in my workroom to slowly and steadily get back do doing what I love!

Thank you to my existing customers with current orders on the go that have been truly amazing, so kind, caring and understanding of my circumstances. I really really appreciate your well wishes and patience!

I’ll be sure to keep my page updated with further updates once I have them along with my recovery progress. I can’t wait to get back to creating beautiful soft furnishings again soon🤍
A project completed before Christmas for a gorgeou A project completed before Christmas for a gorgeous home in Ben Rhydding🤍

The lounge bay window we have dressed with a large Roman blind and pelmet. Keeping it beautifully minimalistic whilst utilising the available deep recess wall space above the window. By doing so this has given the window the illusion of height making the window feel deeper than it actually is✨

In the master bedroom, we removed a small pole from the left window and replaced it with a Roman blind. The existing pole on the larger window was repositioned and a pair of beautiful handmade pinch pleat curtains now dress this window. The Roman blind and top of the pinch pleats are perfectly inline with one another ensuring the two go hand in hand. It’s the little details that make all the difference to the overall finished look of a project, they’re so important🪡

Starting off the new year as I mean to go on by po Starting off the new year as I mean to go on by posting more of my creations!🪡

Here is a project I completed last year for an existing customer in Bramhope. My customers daughter had a clear vision in her mind for how she wanted her newly renovated bedroom to look like - a dreamy, restful, elegant space. After our initial discussion, I selected fabric books and hardware samples best suited for the project! During the measuring visit, together we discussed the suitability of different fabrics for the blinds, dress sheer and hardware creating the perfect combination for the desired end result. I’d say what was chosen has achieved that perfectly, working in total harmony with the wall decor, flooring and lighting. It was fabulous being part of this transformation and making the bespoke window dressings for this project🤍
